So after a lot of research I settled on a Garmin Inreach to replace my old GME Emergency Personal Locator Beacon .These new satellite communicators from Garmin use the Iridium Satellite network to keep you in contact with the world whilst you're out in the middle of it. Venturing off the grid doesn't mean you have to be completely out of reach .These are specially designed for those venturing out into our remoter regions, these handheld satellite communicators are designed so you can stay in touch with family and loved ones while out of range of typical cell-phone coverage, when deep in the back country or out in the ocean. You can preload it with emergency contacts and text messages or type them as required. So if your caught out over night etc you can let your loved ones know your ok and what your plans are.
