Clutha River Super Low !

With the Clutha river at the lowest that I've ever seen it for this time of year, lots of new water is available to fish. A very pleasant few hours swinging flies today on new sections of water usually not accessible at this time of year. I was able to sneak up the side of a deep back water that is usually to deep to get around and get access to a fast run that had some slow softer water just off to it's side. Third swing of my small natural coloured Hot head leech and I had a solid tug followed by a blistering run down stream and unfortunately around a submerged log snapping my 10lb tippet. I carried on for around another 30 mins landing a couple of smaller fish in 2-3lb range both in excellent condition.

A stunning mid winters day on the Clutha river , super low flows mean access to parts of the river not usually available , and a chance to explore !

Also a big thanks to Chris Sharland and the Manic boys for sending me the new 6wt Airflo Vibe Switch rod and the Super Dri Airflo Spey/Switch Scout 16.5ft line to play with over winter cheers fellas ! I cant wait to use it on the West Coast over the next couple of months chasing some sea run trout and will give a full report !
