Epic Day Of Fly Fishing In Southland New Zealand

An amazing day guiding Josh from Tasmania today on a fantastic wee Southland stream well known for its fussy brown trout. Right from the first run of the day the fish we're on the chew ! The river had previously been very low and the water temperature was high making fishing pretty bloody tough ! But we experienced a couple of days of heavy rain earlier last week which flooded the river and dropped the water temp significantly getting fish out and actively foraging for food. Some runs we're stacked with fish and a couple Josh hooked into 3 or 4 acrobatic brown trout. Here's a few photos from today guiding Josh on the Mataura river.
