The Manuka Beetle

The Green Beetle or Manuka as it is also known  appear in large numbers through out the summer months usually starting around late Nov. They become a favorite food source for trout and are often blown onto the water during the daytime where the trout lie in wait ready to feast on these tasty morsels.

Always pays to carry a few Green beetle patterns, handy as the summer months roll on.  Sizes #14 and #16 I find imitate the natural best, floating low in the film line.  A great pattern that works well in both Lake and river situations and accounts for plenty of fish throughout the warmer summer months.

Bobby with a Green beetle muncher, after several refusals of our Parachute style Manuka beetle, we opted for a low profile pattern that rode low down in the surface film.....it did the trick :) A must have pattern for any travelling angleā€¦

A must have pattern for any travelling anglers visiting our shores over the summer months!
